The Patient
Female patient who suffered from years of recurrent bladder infection that did not respond to multiple courses of antibiotics treatment. There was often frequent urination with strong odour and burning sensation during flare up. Quality of sleep was also greatly affected due to the frequent trips to the bathroom. Patient has been trying to get pregnant for over one year without success. Other health complaints included frequent acne break out, premenstrual tension, bloating after meal and extreme tiredness.
Treatment
Patient received a combination of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine to address the recurrent bladder infection issue and started following a strict diet plan under the supervision of
the practitioner. Urinary frequency gradually decreased to normal level and patient was able to sleep through the night again. Other symptoms relating to skin break out, digestion issue and fatigue also improved. Herbal medicine use was stopped following the improvement on health complaints and acupuncture was administered on its own to support fertility. Patient became pregnant naturally and has since had a healthy baby girl.
Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine can also be a very effective treatment method for women suffering from recurrent urinary infection when going to the menopause.
