Acupuncture and herbal medicine for Labyrinthitis

Male patient in mid 30s presented with sudden onset of Labyrinthitis. Patient was working on the computer when it happened and started feeling dizzy and spinning. He immediately lay dow on the floor to avoid falling and called for help. 

NHS 111 GP diagnosed him as having Labyrinthitis and prescribed him with Cyclizine tablets. Patient could not get out of bed without feeling severe spinning in the head. Patient was generally healthy and had no previous medical history before the attack. 

A session of acupuncture was administered on patient and one week's supply of herbal medicine was prescribed. Patient gradually felt less dizzy and was completely symptom free after two weeks.

Acupuncture for Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) during IVF

 The patient

Patient was identified having Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) after taking fertility medication in the first round of IVF cycle. Patient started having headaches, poor sleep, abdominal swelling/tenderness, bloating, emotional disturbances alongside other gynaecological symptoms and excess water over one ovary was discovered during routine scan. Decision was made by her IVF team to postponed the fresh embryo transfer to a frozen transfer. 

The treatment

Patient received eight weekly acupuncture treatments for one cycle to support her OHSS associated symptoms and gradually was able to sleep better and feeling calmer. 

The outcome

Her follow up scan showed she was good to go after and had a successful frozen embryo was conducted with no issue. Patient reported a good scan at 13 weeks.
