The patient

Female patient in her mid 30s has been trying to get pregnant for over one year. Patient had been having frequent urinary tract infections despite several courses of antibiotics treatments. Ultrasound scan and blood tests for patient and sperm test for patient's partner showed no abnormalities. Patient's menstrual cycle on average is around 24 days and suffered from premenstrual symptoms. Patient also experienced chronic fatigue most of the time. Other discomforts include bloating after meal, insomnia and frequent acne outbreaks.

The treatment

Patient received weekly acupuncture treatments along with Chinese herbal medicine and achieved natural pregnancy. In addition, over the course of treatment cycle, the following complaints also benefitted:
- urinary tract infection gradually diminished until eventually cleared
- bloating after meal subsided and patient no longer felt tired all the time
- acne outbreak was controlled and cleared
- quality of sleep was much improved an patient no longed needed to spend over an hour to fall asleep
- menstrual cycle was regulated to 28 days with no reported premenstrual symptoms

The patient


Female patient in her 30s has suffered pain in the urethra for ten years. There would be a sharp burning pain in the evening which can be particularly bad following intercourse. It often takes her up to four hours to fall asleep due to the pain which also wakes her up throughout the night. The diagnosis from her GP was chronic urinary tract infection and Long term antibiotics was prescribed to her several times which did not help to ease the pain.




The treatment

The patient received four weekly sessions of acupuncture and reported a good improvement on the urethra pain. The pain with urination had stopped and she could go to sleep much quicker than before. She also noticed a reduction on the underarm sweatiness since started the treatment.

Advice 

Following a discussion on her diet and lifestyle, advice was given for her to cut down on diary and sugary food intake.

The patient

Female patient developed adrenal weakness since giving birth to her second child. She had blood sugar problems and needed to eat constantly day and night to avoid dizziness and weakness. She felt congested in the sinus, heavy in her limbs and was tired all the time, all of which made her very anxious.

The treatment

After one session of acupuncture, her blood sugar level felt normal again and she no longer needed to eat regularly. The blocked sinus cleared along with the heaviness in the body. Her anxiety level also reduced significantly.

The patient was prescribe Chinese herbal medicine to support and sustain the treatment outcome.

The patient

Female patient in her late 30s had been trying to conceive naturally since an ectopic pregnancy. Her period cycle was longer than usual averaging around 35 days and experienced premenstrual tension such as headaches and period pain. Patient also suffered from periodic eczema flare up on her fingers.

The treatment

Patient received weekly acupuncture treatments and took Chinese herbal medicine for 5 months. Dietary advice was also given to the patient to facilitate the treatment.

Outcome

Patient's period cycle reduced to 30 days and premenstrual tension symptoms gradually subsided. Ovulation discharge increased in volume, lengthen of days with improved consistency. Patient fell pregnancy in the 5th cycle. Eczema on fingers cleared with no further flare up.

Regulating abnormalities associated with the period is the key to acupuncture and herbal medicine treatment for fertility. This can usually be achieved between 3 to 6 menstrual cycles.

The patient


Female patient developed left hip pain after a fall during skiing session. Hip was very painful with walking and felt sore to the touch.


The treatment


Patient took a rest day from skiing and received two sessions of acupuncture.

Outcome


The pain on the hip was gone completely the following morning and the patient was able to skiing again normally for the remaining 2 days of her trip.

The Patient

Mid aged housewife suffering from sensitive and dry eyes. She felt her eyes were scratchy and couldn't wear contact lenses as a result. Over the counter eye drops provided little relief. She went to see an optometrist and all tests came back normal.

The treatment

Acupuncture with Chinese herbal medicine for one week.

Outcome

Patient no longer felt the discomfort in her eyes and was able to wear contact lenses again for up to 8 hours a day.

The patient

70 years old carpenter who suffered from severe leg cramp and sciatica pain in his right leg. The patient could not walk straight on his own and to be undressed by a companion. The leg cramp would lead to a spasm at night and wake him up several times at night. Numbness is also felt in his arms at night.

The treatment

6 sessions of acupuncture and Chinese medicine treatment along with dietary advice.

Patient was able to attend his appointment and undress unaided on the second visit. His leg cramp stopped after the first week of treatment. All other symptoms subsided by the sixth visit.
